Restructuring and Refining a Rather Large Website

Restructuring and redesigning the website www.sesalos.com had it’s greatest challenge in reassessing the content and restructuring it in such a way to make the important information available immediately and keeping the ‘macro’ overview of Sesalos.

I also needed to ensure that none of the pages that were deleted were valuable pages that drove search engine traffic to the website. Every page that was considered for deletion was tested on its variety of keywords to ensure that it ranking was not contributing to traffic levels going to the website.

A Bold Design Move

The Sesalos website is different! Very different! After years of keeping the website predominantly black a decision was taken to move to a lighter coloured website. This has been a drastic change in what people would usually expect from Sesalos. The new website design aims to provide a cleaner and easier-to-read interface that profiles Sesalos in a simpler way to previous versions of www.sesalos.com. The lighter colour keeps the site easy on the eyes making it more of a pleasure to spend time researching Sesalos.

The content of the website has also been greatly reduced as we set out to keep only information that was important to our current and potential clients. This meant making a few brutal decisions to drop a few online extra’s we had in the past.

Consolidated News
Most updates to the website will now take place through the news page of the website creating a simple and consolidated space for all Sesalos news. This news is then displayed around the website using RSS feed readers (such as what is seen on the Home Page). Previously the Sesalos news has a number of single news streams that spoke about individual topic areas – this became difficult to manage and therefore was less of a value to the client.

This news in now available both in Email and RSS formats for user convenience.

This website was a challenge because we needed to make big content and design changes without losing brand identity and without losing search rankings and trafic volumn.
