How to Go Viral and Other Lies
- Category: Branding
- Release date: 20 March 2019
Everyone wants to ‘go viral’ but so few ever manage to make it happen. Going viral drives fame and fame is fleeting. What is more important than going viral is creating something that inspires change in people. We should be focusing on doing something great! Something only you can do. Something significant. The rest, will follow naturally.
This presentation doesn’t outline how to distribute your message to go viral it speaks to how you build a meaningful business, product or campaign that attracts the attention of people.
It will cover these ideas
Don’t confuse people with options. Become a master at one thing.
Everyone loves a good story. The most successful stories are applied to the listeners actual dilemma, not to simply amuse people.
People are attracted to Significant people, they hold more influence than successful people, they are more trusted and respected.
Integrate real life experiences, events. Then bake your mission into all your content streams.
Find a way to really reach people. Sometimes it’s the weird and quirky that gets adopted by people.
We tend to measure views instead of action. Success should come from the change in behaviour, not the number of likes. Measure the right things.
Going viral is not the holy grail, the holy grail should be change. Not how many people saw it, but how many people changed because of it. Going viral is not about content, it’s about having something important to say, do, build and change. Big ideas with bold ambitions go viral.
